Able Home Health Care Senior Services, Inc. (AHHCSS) works to create meaningful, lasting change for older adults, adults with disabilities, family caregivers, and rural communities throughout Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, Northampton, and Wilson counties.

Building on the more than 26-year legacy of Able Home Health Care, LLC, our nonprofit addresses practical needs that may fall outside the limits of Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, and traditional aging programs.

Through HOPE, HELP & HOME, we connect seniors and families with practical assistance, education, advocacy, trusted resources, and community partnerships that promote safety, dignity, independence, and stability.

Through assessments, individualized support planning, resource navigation, referrals, transportation assistance, nutrition support, wellness education, and social connection, we help seniors address barriers that may threaten their independence.

Stronger Families and Caregivers

Family and unpaid caregivers often carry significant physical, emotional, and financial responsibilities. AHHCSS helps connect caregivers with education, respite coordination, practical resources, peer support, and community services.

Safe Homes

Through the developing Aging Safely at Home initiative, AHHCSS will help older adults identify home hazards and accessibility concerns that may interfere with safe living.

As funding, qualified partners, and program capacity become available, our desired outcomes include:

• Home hazards identified and prioritized
• Safety concerns addressed through education, referrals, or qualified assistance
• Improved accessibility and confidence at home
• Reduced risk of falling and preventable injuries
• Stronger partnerships with contractors, accessibility specialists, and community organizations

Reduced Isolation and Greater Connection

Social isolation can affect an older adult’s emotional health, physical well-being, and overall quality of life. Companion visits, telephone reassurance, wellness checks, volunteer engagement, and social activities can help seniors feel connected and supported.

Women’s Leadership and Community Service

Through Women Empowering Seniors, we engage women as caregivers, advocates, volunteers, mentors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.

• Expanded caregiver and volunteer capacity
• Increased mentoring and peer support
• Greater access to leadership and economic opportunities
