About Us

Strengthening Seniors. Supporting Families. Stabilizing Communities.

Able Home Health Care Senior Services, Inc. (AHHCSS) is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults remain safe, supported, independent, and connected in the communities they call home.

We serve older adults, adults with disabilities, family caregivers, and vulnerable households throughout Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, Northampton, and Wilson counties in eastern North Carolina.

Built on a Legacy of Compassion

AHHCSS builds upon the more than 26-year legacy of Able Home Health Care, LLC, a trusted provider of compassionate in-home care throughout eastern North Carolina.

Through years of serving seniors and families, we have seen that many of the challenges affecting a person’s ability to remain safely at home extend beyond traditional healthcare. Transportation difficulties, food insecurity, caregiver stress, social isolation, unsafe living conditions, and limited access to trusted resources can all place a senior’s independence at risk.

AHHCSS was established to help address these critical gaps through practical assistance, education, advocacy, resource coordination, and strong community partnerships.

Our Mission

To strengthen seniors, support families, and stabilize communities by connecting older adults and caregivers with practical assistance, education, advocacy, and coordinated resources that promote safe and independent living.

Our Vision

Seniors live safely and with dignity, supported by strong families and caring communities.

HOPE, HELP & HOME

Our services and developing initiatives are brought together through HOPE, HELP & HOME: A Coordinated Senior & Family Support Program.

  • HOPE — Helping seniors and families see a path forward.
  • HELP — Connecting people with practical services, trusted guidance, and compassionate support.
  • HOME — Promoting safety, dignity, and independence in the place seniors know best.

The program is organized around three connected service areas:

Senior & Family Stabilization

Providing practical assistance, caregiver support, education, resource navigation, referrals, and social connection to help seniors and families remain safe and stable.

Aging Safely at Home

Identifying home-safety and accessibility concerns and connecting older adults with education, assessments, trusted resources, and qualified assistance as funding and program capacity become available.

Women Empowering Seniors

Equipping women to serve as caregivers, advocates, volunteers, mentors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who strengthen the well-being of seniors and their families.

How We Help

Depending on individual needs, available funding, qualified partners, staffing, and program capacity, support may include:

  • Individual needs assessments and support planning
  • Service coordination, referrals, and follow-up
  • Transportation assistance
  • Food and nutrition support
  • Caregiver education and respite coordination
  • Companion visits and telephone reassurance
  • Wellness and fall-prevention education
  • Chore, housekeeping, lawncare, or related assistance when available
  • Home-safety education and accessibility referrals
  • Advocacy and connections to community resources
  • Volunteer, mentoring, and leadership opportunities

Our services are designed to complement—not duplicate—benefits available through Medicaid, Medicare, and other aging and community-support programs.

What We Believe

We believe seniors should never face aging, illness, disability, isolation, or housing-safety concerns alone. Families should have access to trusted guidance, practical resources, and compassionate support when challenges arise.

Our work is guided by:

  • Compassion — Treating every person with kindness, patience, and understanding.
  • Dignity — Honoring the worth, choices, and experiences of every individual.
  • Accountability — Using our resources responsibly and remaining committed to meaningful results.
  • Independence — Helping seniors remain active, confident, and engaged in decisions about their lives.
  • Collaboration — Working with families, volunteers, service providers, and community partners to create lasting solutions.
  • Community — Strengthening the rural communities we are proud to serve.

Our Impact

Through coordinated services and community partnerships, AHHCSS works to:

  • Improve access to needed services and benefits
  • Help seniors remain safe and independent at home
  • Reduce isolation and strengthen social connection
  • Ease caregiver stress and strengthen family stability
  • Improve home safety and accessibility
  • Expand caregiver, volunteer, and community-service capacity
  • Build stronger and more connected rural communities

Real support. Lasting stability. Meaningful community impact.
