Able Home Health Care Senior Services, Inc. (AHHCSS) helps older adults remain safe, supported, and connected in the communities they call home.
Building on more than 26 years of service to seniors and families through Able Home Health Care, LLC, our nonprofit organization coordinates practical assistance, caregiver support, resource navigation, education, advocacy, and community partnerships throughout eastern North Carolina.
Through HOPE, HELP & HOME, we bring our services and developing initiatives together under one clear purpose:
- HOPE — Helping seniors and families see a path forward.
- HELP — Connecting people with practical services, trusted guidance, and compassionate support.
- HOME — Promoting safety, dignity, and independence in the place seniors know best.
Our Mission
To strengthen seniors, support families, and stabilize communities by connecting older adults and caregivers with practical assistance, education, advocacy, and coordinated resources that promote safe and independent living.
How We Help
Our program is organized around three connected service areas:
Senior & Family Stabilization
We help older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers overcome practical barriers that can make it difficult to remain safe and stable at home.
Support may include:
- Individual needs screening and support planning
- Resource navigation, referrals, and follow-up
- Caregiver education and respite coordination
- Transportation assistance
- Food and nutrition support
- Companion visits, telephone reassurance, and social connection
- Wellness and fall-prevention education
- Chore, housekeeping, lawncare, or related assistance when available
- Advocacy and connections to trusted community resources
Our services are designed to complement—not duplicate—assistance available through Medicaid, Medicare, and other aging programs.
Aging Safely at Home
This developing initiative helps older adults identify home-safety and accessibility concerns that may interfere with independent living.
As funding, qualified partners, and program capacity become available, assistance may include:
- Home-safety reviews
- Fall-hazard and accessibility assessments
- Safety education and prioritized improvement plans
- Referrals to qualified contractors and community resources
- Minor safety repairs or accessibility improvements
- Assistance with items such as grab bars, handrails, improved lighting, smoke alarms, and non-slip safety measures
Our goal is to help seniors feel safer, more confident, and better supported in their own homes.
Women Empowering Seniors
This initiative engages and equips women to serve as caregivers, advocates, volunteers, mentors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders for older adults and their families.
Activities may include:
- Caregiver and leadership education
- Advocacy and senior-rights awareness
- Mentoring and peer support
- Volunteer outreach and engagement
- Friendly visits, wellness checks, and telephone reassurance
- Financial-management and small-business education
- Connections to meaningful service, leadership, and employment opportunities
By empowering women, we expand the network of capable and compassionate people working to improve the lives of seniors.
Who We Serve
Our programs are designed to support:
- Adults age 60 and older
- Older adults and adults with disabilities
- Low-income and rural senior households
- Family and unpaid caregivers
- Grandparent-led households
- Veterans and veteran caregivers
- Seniors experiencing isolation, safety concerns, or difficulty accessing essential services
We serve communities across Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, Northampton, and Wilson counties.
